| Basic Requirements |
| You will need your Expert Net Login Name and password In some cases, your Win95 Software (CD or disk form) maybe needed. |
| 1. Dial-up Networking....Is it installed? |
| From your Win95 Desktop, Double click on My Computer. Is there an icon for Dial-up Networking? If YES, proceed to step 2. If not, see Adding Dial-up Networking instructions. |
| 2. Dial-up Adapter and TCP/IP installed? |
| From your desktop, click Start, select Settings, Control Panel. Double-click the Network icon. You should see a dialog box entitled Network. Select the Configuration tab. Both Dial-up Adapt er and TCP/IP should be on the list. If both are listed, proceed to step 3. If not, see Adding Dial-up Adapter and TCP/IP instructions. |
| 3. Set up a Connection icon |
| Click Start, Programs, Accessories, Dial-up Networking. Double click on the "Make New Connection" icon. This will walk you through the connection wizard. | |

| Type in Expert Net for the name of the computer you are dialing. Your modem should be shown in the Select a modem area. Choose Configure if you wish to check modem related settings. (Modems 28.8 and above use 115,200 for the connect speed. 14.4 modems use 57,600) | |

| Click the Next button in the wizard. Enter your local access number. Click Next again. | |

| Press the Finish button and your Dial-up icon will be created. | , |

| 4. Settings the Dial-up Properties |
| Single click on the dial-up icon you just created, then right click on the same icon, select Properties with a normal left click. |

| Click on Server Types. In the dialog box Uncheck everything except Enable Software CompressionandTCP/IP. |

| The Primary and Secondary WINS should be zeros and dots. There should be checks in front of both Use IP Header compression and Use default Gateway. |
| Click OK until you are back to the Expert Net icon you created. You can place a shortcut on your desktop by right-clicking on the icon and selecting Create Shortcut |
| 5. Getting connected |
| Double-click your Expert Net dial up icon that was created. You'll get the Connection Box. Put your e-mail address (username@xprt.net) and password in the appropriate areas. These should be entered in lower case only . Click Connect to start the dialup process. Once a connection is made, you can double click your browser and you should be on the net! If you would like to tie your dialer directly to the browser - so the Connect To window automatically comes up when double-clicking the browser - go into your Control Panel under the My Computer icon, then double click on the Internet icon. Go to the Connections tab, and make sure to choose Connect to the Internet as Needed and select Expert Net as the Dial Up to use. The next time you restart your computer and then double click the browser on the desktop, it should start the dial up process automatically. |
