Audio Class: Field Production
Coping with Locations
First line of defense: Choose quiet
locations!
- Producers: Keep audio
in mind when choosing locations
- Audio people:
Pre-planning will save you grief on the shoot!
Second line of defense: Increase the
signal to noise ratio:
- Turn off noise sources if possible.
- Put absorbing material between mic and
noise.
- Use directional microphones and
position to decrease noise while increasing desired
signal.
- Move microphones closer to the source.
- Move audio cables away from other
wires (particularly lights with dimmers!)
