Wind and Noise
Wind
- Cause: The slightest
breeze can cause massive low frequency noise or
"rumble". Can also be cause by talent
"P-popping" or breathing into microphone.
- Cure: Use a foam
"Windscreen" (or "Pop Filter") on
each affected microphone.
Noise
- Types of noise: Airborne
and Electrical
- Airborne: (You can
hear it with your ears) Use a more directional microphone
and/or move closer to the source.
- Electrical: (You can
hear it only through the recording system.) Isolate by
listening to individual microphones. Move cables away
from other cables (particularly power or lighting
cables.) Epxeriment with swapping cables, disconnect and
reconnect connectors.
