Micriphone Selection

Directional or Omni?

• Studio conditions are more controlled (quieter), so omnis may be more usable.
• But closer proximity may make directional mics necessary to pick out individual sources.

Dynamic or Condenser?

• According to need.
• Most large (studio) mixers provide "phantom power" so mics equipped for powering won’t need batteries.

Microphone Type?

• According to need. Refer to previous class for selection.
