Micrphone Techniques

Most mic placement techniques same as for Field Production

• Refer to last week’s notes

Inside vs. Outside

• Less noise
  • Can use omnis to pick up over broader area
  • Can use longer working distances
• But more reverb
  • Watch out for reflections from walls, flats
  • Also general room reverberation
• Multiple microphones, 3-to-1 rule
  • Each microphone should be three times as far away from other sources as from its own source.
