Level Control
Audio Operator's Job

Audio is actually one of the more demanding jobs in video production,
especially when it is done right!

  1. Set up and test all studio microphones
  2. Set up and test studio monitor speaker (if used)
  3. Test telephone patch (if used)
  4. Listen for problems (studio noise, bad mics or cables, etc)
    You are PRIMARY audio quality checker, director is dealing with other things!
  5. Adjust VCR inputs to match mixer tone level (0dB)
  6. Adjust levels as needed
  7. Turn pots up (without upcut!) for mics in use
  8. Turn pots down for mics not in use
  9. Job One: Watch level, (others are watching the picture!)
